I would like to devote this article on the essence of the speech I delivered on behalf of Sabah Economic Advisory Council to the Sabah Chinese Economic Conference on 23 August 2023. Part 1-Why re-create Sabah-The past.

Soonest Hajiji was sworn in as CM, he was confronted with many serious problems. Some of which are:

[a] Sabah has been in an economic doldrum since the mid-1980s [almost 40 years]. We were the No. 2 state in Malaysia, only behind Selangor, but has since sunk to the bottom position. Economic growth has been stunted with the lowest household income and highest rate of unemployment. Thousands of young Sabahans have migrated to W Malaysia and Singapore to seek jobs and better pay.
