Arnold Frederick Sexe, age 98, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 20, 2023. He was born on October 6, 1924 to Leonard A. Sexe and Lottie (Brooker) Sexe at their home in Hills, MN. Arnold attended a one room country school and graduated from Beaver Creek High School in 1942. World War II was already underway and Arnold enrolled in the Navy’s officer training program. He served in the South Pacific as the officer in charge of Landing Craft Tank 727. Following the war, he completed his college education at Mankato State Teachers College. He also enlisted in the Naval Reserves, eventually retiring with the rank of commander. He moved to Worthington in the fall of 1948 to begin his 41-year teaching career. A fellow teacher introduced Arnold to the love of his life, Elna Hallstrom. They were united in marriage on October 15, 1949 and were married for 73 years. Arnold was active in his church, the Gideons, and numerous community groups, often serving in leadership roles. In 1983 he was selected as Worthington Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for Minnesota Teacher of the Year. Arnold was a loving husband, father, grandpa and uncle; and a friend to many.
