The senior officials of the corporation performed a Bhumi Puja near the coal block on Monday. The men and machinery were moved to the spot to kickstart the mining operation.
Speaking to the media here on Monday, mines and geology minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy said that this was the first time APMDC has begun coal exploration in other states.
He said APMDC won Suliyari coal block spread over 1,298 hectors through an open bidding conducted by the Centre. He said that the government would invest close to 2,000 crore in coal mining to earn more revenue.
