He is marking the move with the sale of a rare three-volume set of books from 1907 written by the crew of British explorer Robert Falcon Scott during their Antarctic expeditions. The set, called South Polar Times, is signed by fellow explorer Ernest Shackleton and is on sale for $50,000.
Only 250 copies of the sets were ever printed and many of the remaining copies are in museums and libraries, Nye said.
The books include watercolours, essays and puzzles made by Scott’s crew to keep themselves entertained during the long winter months on the ice.
