Few periods in global history have been the subject of quite as many period dramas as Henry VIII’s reign – with his ill-fated second queen, Anne Boleyn, proving a favourite subject for everyone from Hilary Mantel to Justin Chadwick. Channel 5’s forthcoming drama series about Henry Tudor’s ill-fated second wife, however, will represent a departure from all previous biopics, with the inimitable Jodie Turner-Smith in the lead role and a focus on Anne’s loving relationship with her daughter, the future Queen Elizabeth I.
