The North Shore Scenic Railroad is leaving the station for the season.
After a shortened season last summer due to the pandemic, the popular Duluth-based railroad began its season on Friday with its Duluth Zephyr and Music and Pizza Train excursions.
The Duluth Zephyr is the shortest excursion, staying in the City of Duluth, and the Music and Pizza Train is a 2.5-hour evening ride that runs 32 miles up the North Shore and back.
The railroad's excursions depart the historic Duluth Union Depot, which is also home to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum. Capacity will be limited to 75% to start the summer, the website says (up from 50%), but the railroad may increase capacity depending on how things go with the pandemic.
