So were just adding that to the total mostly the total later on right now though i want to talk about North Carolina 15 Electoral College votes still too close to call but when we break down the numbers we start to get a little bit more of the picture. 100 percent reporting i believe its just short of that actually at the moment and donald trump has a 75000. 00 vote difference but once again North Carolina its the story of the night in so many states that rural urban split there is maybe still a little bit of a runway left for joe biden in the urban areas but it would only be a very small amount and remember in this sort of part of the United States when it goes North Carolina you could possibly expect georgia to go to same sort of way and further south florida has already it looks like going to the republicans just a quick look back at the story from North Carolina in previous elections and that is how it looked. A close win for barack obama which was flipped by mitt romney in 2012 and then it got a little bit closer again in. 2016 so that is the story in North Carolina at the moment well just have a look at the state of the race now that we have added a little hawaii in there to 13 to 118 but i keep talking about this and im going to come in again and say it texas 38 florida 29 North Carolina 15 heigho 18 pennsylvania which we talked about a while ago with its 20 and which i still think its going to be so its so significant this race is far from over its as simple as that and i think were going to be waiting well pos. Joe biden made very clear that he would have something to say when there was something to say that trickled down to his campaign spokespeople there has been nothing out of the Biden Campaign throughout all these hours of the vote being counted but now something off an interregnum biden holding on to that lead in the electoral vote race however this still a lot of results to come in the key places pennsylvania wisconsin michigan were told now that those results are going to take a lot longer than was thought particularly with the huge amount of postal votes our john hendren pointed out a little bit earlier these traditionally would favor democrats but what has become clear in the day of voting is once again what has happened in previous elections more republicans turn out on the day in person at the polls now this lead to a particular pattern in the flow of results initial results indicated a strong lead for joe biden and a number of areas that lead was whittled away as the in person votes was beginning to count but then you had the complication in a number of states the postal votes or the early votes were counted after the incursion votes which once again showed an imbalance the other way so a very very difficult election to track clearly at this particular point and so weve seen from the results of the projected results joe biden holds a lead in that electoral count however we still going to wait for those absolutely huge states weve seen use the word key states a lot in the course of this coverage but that really is the key and perhaps pennsylvania coming down to pennsylvania as the hours tick on potentially days tick on. Mike speaking of pennsylvania it is of course one of the key states most likely to decide the president ial election krysten salumi is in philadelphia force its biggest city weve got. That announcement from michigan saying that final results are not going to be available until wednesday evening kristen what about philadelphia when are we going to get results from that. Yeah a similar concern here and philadelphia governor tom wolfe spoke shortly after the polls close here warning that things could take longer than voters are used to here in pennsylvania and thats because of the 2600000 mail and ballots that have to be counted and under state law they were only able to start counting them today right now with about 54 percent of the votes in President Trump does look to have a substantial lead hes leading 56 percent to 42 percent but remember democrats have submitted way more mail in ballots than republicans have 3 times as many and those ballots are among the last to be reported some of them have started coming in but for example here in philadelphia theyve stopped counting mail in ballots for the night only about 18 percent total statewide have been processed here in pennsylvania its a similar amount so there is still a lot of room for joe biden to maneuver here hes still capable of winning this state also pittsburgh area another Major Urban Center where democrats are heavily favored has not fully reported its mail in ballots or come close to reporting all of its mail in ballots a couple key swing areas are only just beginning to count their mail in ballots as well so this is leading to a lot of anxiety a lot of uncertainty but the governor attempting to calm peoples fears telling them its more important to be accurate than quick and promising that in fact they will be accurate but it may be friday he says before we have all of the results in friday christians living in philadelphia many thanks dave lets speak through conservative commentators shes in reston virginia what are your thoughts. The person on the ground how do they feel about times policies over the past 4 years have they really worked for him i mean trump was successful in making michigan really stand up for him and i think what hes really found is that michigan could do it again i am not so sure also in wisconsin i think of a this is a younger suburban mother like myself im in the suburbs of Northern Virginia here the women it was not so not much different than me there working people who are also generally you know finding a way to make it through this pandemic its been months and months of balancing Virtual School for our children as well as our workloads and that has really changed the lives of a lot of College Educated voters as well and i would say those who are not College Educated i think women are smart enough to figure out when theres a plan and when theres not a plan so so i really do worry about those 2 states and of course pennsylvania as your correspondent just mentioned was really complicated things there is that Supreme Court being deadlocked on the republican operatives who petition the Supreme Court to say hey do something here where the lower courts ruling stood and now for the next 3 days pennsylvania will accept ballots that were postmarked today and so yes friday is looking like a day where we might know really gets to really many thanks indeed greta show the. So its coming up today from kemal minnesota yes weve got a projection to make in these a becoming more and more important as the clock ticks down we do have a projection to make in the state of minnesota and it is for the democratic challenger joe biden 10 Electoral College votes going to his tally the background for this is that this was a state which Hillary Clinton did win in 2016 but not by much this was important for joe biden to hold onto this was a state that the republicans and donald trump put a lot of money and effort into targeting because it would almost complete this set if you like. Montana iowa and then wisconsin michigan theres the theres a lot more to come. Nevada as well still too close or too early to call at this stage as well so its still as tight as it was but i think bats is kind of important for joe biden to have held its not a flip but hes held it against a very strong challenge from donald trump fail so thats one of the few at this stage its just its bit by bit its incriminates at this point. Of a feeling its going to be for a few hours here but he thinks well lets go live to the crucial battleground state of florida and he gallagher is in miami for a sunday whats the latest. Well i wish i could tell you that this state had been called but with about 96 percent of votes counted it hasnt it looks like gone trump has about a 300000 vote lead at the moment so it could go trumps way and this is a vital state for the president he really needs the 29 Electoral College votes but if we dig in a little deeper theres some interesting exit poll data coming out shows that joe biden hasnt done particularly well with latino voters here particularly when you compare that to how Hillary Clinton did 4 years ago it seems that the Trump Campaigns push to paint biden as a socialist has worked to some degree but at the moment we are you know sagen izing now the polls closed for 5 hours ago and 96 percent of the way theyre counting still no clear winner but as i said its pushing towards the campaign in the president and he really does need those 29. 00 Electoral College votes of course the Democratic Party would have loved to win florida it is extremely close either way you look at it but back in 2016 trump won this state by about 112000 votes hes now got a lead of about 30350000 votes with about 4 percent left to count so we are still waiting for confirmation of who has taken this the biggest battleground state in the president ial election but at the moment it is edging towards the president and the lets check in with joe castro who is in Houston Texas whats the latest from the. Previous election years it would have been almost a given that texas whatever warded its 38. 00 Electoral College votes or the republican candidate for president because thats what the state has done for more than 4 decades well currently in 2. X. Is still too close to call were seeing somewhere around 90 percent of votes counted trump seems to be pushing ahead further the latest lead at last check was by some 5 or 6 Percentage Points but thats still a smaller margin than he won the state by in 2016 when he beat Hillary Clinton by 9 points so Texas Democrats on the ground were hoping to call texas a battleground for this election and the fact that this late into election in texas still has yet to be called it means that there was some validity or is some validity to that to that argument and we saw ok and slated to historical voter turnout here in texas the whole time you know of course considering whether it was biden supporters or Trump Supporters who time turned out more many thanks to. Past midnight on the east coast is a very strong point for donald trump lets add it so the numbers he moves to 145 joe biden stays at 223 with a lot still left to call well be able to at 3 in alaska arizona who knows that this stage dont trump would be hoping to hold but its looking strong for arizona the important thing to say is that no one has flipped the state yet this is the same map red and blue so as it was in 2016 i was just talking about arizona if joe biden carries on the way it was looking for him in the open areas around phoenix that could be the 1st one to flip but as of this point this is unbelievable after 4 years that the map is staying the same in the United States. Quite shocked to be honest but i dont think were going to be here for if you were out its on what the polls the opinion polls lead us to believe and this is and this is the way the opinion polls the nationwide opinion polls tell one story and you never even know if people are actually telling the truth and really it just comes down to the states in the end can come out or at say later another state thats very much in play North Carolina President Trump fighting to hold on to its crucial 15 Electoral College votes with 95 percent of the vote counted just about as well as following the race for us more salacious. But we just checked in with the North Carolina state board of elections and its now up to 99 percent as of a few minutes ago and with 5300000 votes cast donald trump has expanded his lead over joe biden by 7. 5000 votes this is significant because there simply are not a lot of votes left to count and donald trump has been slowly expanding his lead ever so slightly over joe biden in the crucial state of North Carolina over the last couple hours and biden has not been able to catch up so far it is still technically too close to call thats because. North carolina has a cavity in their counting system where any mail in ballots that were postmarked today will not be counted tonight they will be counted tomorrow and thursday the question becomes is is there are there enough of those ballots out there for joe biden to catch up which is essentially 75000 that he is short thats the big question no one quite knows the answer to that at this hour thats why they were not called thats when its not being called yet its still technically too close to call but i will tell you that this was a state that joe biden wanted to try to win and it appears like his chances of that are slipping away donald trump one North Carolina 4 years ago and it looks like hes in a pretty good position right now at least with 99 percent of the ballots in and counted that hes on track to potentially potentially win it again. It was not what i was expecting i think its in line with what many people who thought the polls were too favorable to biden that was not my view i thought biden was a very cautious political strategy but my view is in. Terms of who already has been or his entire time in office and not usually translate well into the i think biden run a very cautious campaign he took it as a given people who thought that trumps behavior in office was unwise and off and incoherent and overly emotional he thought that that would when itself the People Holding him to account for covert 990 s. If you look at those d issues what do you think of when you think of some issues like medicare for all i think of Bernie Sanders right and this is a case that he made during the primary that it was not enough to just say that im not a trump and im sensible and i will not tweet and you know upset you and interrupt your brunch and has 3 more the night you have to give people something to vote for and yeah thats exactly right i think the economy has proven to be a much bigger issue for a lot of people than they thought and you know if you look at trumps Approval Ratings theyve always been bad but theyve been steadily back at the time that he has dipped to the lowest that he had which i think is about 35 percent that came in early december we had passed his his masses that accredits tax cut which is a giveaway the rich raise taxes on middle class people wildly unpopular that was a thing that people had modest about his time and that was not a message that biden the democrats lent into with this campaign line continue to stress that yes he better a crowd of ours and mostly again that trump is bad and he will get rid of trump and everything could go back to normal but that will lead to a 16 normal was not good enough for a lot of voters and that turns out to include black and latino voters who will not just go along with the democratic candidate just because they happen to you know not say out early races there is a strong does jeff get a part of the problem and it is a sort of silo a silo make sure siloed nature of information there and that let me get much of the main my main stream media is what really calling out trump on a daily basis except for fox news and it didnt necessarily reflect the complexity that went into a vote for trumbull perhaps not of it for biden. Electoral College Votes for donald trump which would put him up to about 2 twelves i think so thats almost a did ok im just being told florida is officially in the column for donald trump i dont know if we can bring it up on the school board or not but we can now officially put the 29. 00 Electoral College votes in florida in for donald trump what a massive massive win that is for him to hold on to florida absolutely crucial for this if we have a look at the popular vote as it has finished we were just looking at it a 2nd ago we might have the updated one for you. A weve got it for you on the screen there we go 5148 is how it ends up in florida. So its just so massively important so its just so close again so in quotes again florida happens every time doesnt it right lets go back to North Carolina then officially too close to call but by the numbers donald trump ahead there so you could potentially put another 15 in the column there georgia is next state and this is where joe biden if he is going to win this this is ways going to have to do it its going to happen in a place like georgia but with 81 percent reporting that gap astounding to get away and then again still haul sibley possibly in the urban areas around atlanta which we think would be reliably blue and then as you spread out from atlanta into the suburbs as well how far does the blue stretch i think is basically the question there arizona or another one we need to look at in the too close to call at this point but wow joe biden solidly ahead 54 percent of precincts reporting and again crucial to joe biden is how he can do in those areas in and around phoenix Maricopa County so. Well im starting to run out of breath a little no ones actually flipped a state yet but this would probably as i said before be the best chance for the 1st chance at least for someone to flip a stage. Wisconsin as well and this is win so if the paf is narrowing in the Southern States they comes back to these states and they you know 4 years ago at this stage it was all well earlier it was all talking about these northern states the blue bells and how it would be crucial and its going to be crucial again wisconsin just 118000. 00 votes separating joe biden and Donald Trump Trump has the senate see at the moment with 90 percent reporting michigan still a lot to come in there and its tight there with around 300000. 00 separating them there but again dont trump is in the ladies of the stay. He turned 4 years ago he is holding them at this point and pennsylvania completes the sit in that part of the world at this point the difference is its Pretty Healthy isnt it 650000. 00 is the difference but only 62 percent reporting again we wait for those strong in areas and the mail in votes a jury in the mail and votes which theyve only just started sorting and counting them now probably a couple of days i would think just before i go back to age and have a quick look at the state of the rights to remind you of where we are and that is where we are 223 to 174 weve put most of the states into the officially into the too close to call category that being the yellow ones still some too early to call as well adrian i dont know what to say at this point because. Yeah i mean this was what the president needed he visited this state 14 times over the period of his Election Campaign joe biden only came here 4 times nonetheless it was very close from looking at the figures right trumps up with state by about 350000 votes back in 2016 it took this state by a very narrow margin of about 112000 votes but in the Bigger Picture this is something that the president needed if he didnt win florida his path to the white house would get very narrow indeed now its widened out a fair bit because this is a very important state with 29 Electoral College votes of course this is the state the president calls home since he moved to mar a lago at least he declared his residency there are largo and palm beach but im sure joe biden and the Biden Campaign will be extremely disappointed that they did not take this state but i think theyre now focused on places like arizona up in the midwest wisconsin North Carolina and of course georgia and pennsylvania but its very rare in any president ial election when you can say this early that florida has been won by one candidate now is not playing a major role in how this entire thing will play out of course the history here is that florida always plays an outsized role given that it is the biggest battleground state but a major 6 feather in the cap for the Trump Campaign with a victory here in florida and 29 essential Electoral College votes and many thanks were still waiting for joe biden expected to make a statement we have no idea what. That have not been counted in pennsylvania it may well stretch right up to that last moment so all of a sudden often evening in which always quiet from the candidates this is beginning to erupt a little bit along with the music here behind me is the Biden Campaign got an army of lawyers ready to fight this which of course the trouble campaign has. Yes indeed world the Biden Campaign does just like the trunk campaign will have its legal people in place but the key issue here has already been decided on by the Supreme Court of the United States to appoint the trunk campaign on 2 separate occasions brought a case saying that the vote in pennsylvania could not be extended to rigidly in the middle of october and then when there was a possibility of a new Supreme Court justice taking her place on the bench to be able to decide on the issue increasing the conservative majority in the court the lawyers brought it again however vera to not sit on that particular case because she was improper be briefed so essentially the court was split which meant that it goes back and allows the officials of pennsylvania until friday to count that being said theres another little legal twist in all of this because a number of justices on the Supreme Court at least 3 of them indicated that they may revisit that decision after election day theres a possibility a remote possibility but the judge says at made it clear that they could revisit that decision and hold the count in pennsylvania theres a lot of ways that this can go from here certainly a highly complex and highly tense situation beginning to emerge President Trump has been going on for months about being opposed to the extension of the vote to allow extra time to count mail in vote absentee votes this is now coming to a head over the next 2436 hours but certainly as it stands at the moment pennsylvania has some tall friday 5 pm to count all the votes that have reached them that are postmarked the vendor 3rd and those votes will be counted. And as we seen from the results throughout the evening mail in voting absentee voting as heavily favored the democrats in person voting folks in the polls on the day as heavily voted the republicans this is why this results have been so difficult to follow because theyve been coming in lumps in some places the early voting was counted 1st in other places it hasnt been counted yet so this skewed results we are getting all the time with the one candidate suddenly leaping ahead of the other contender then joe. Over we saw biden leaving a leading in a number of states in the early vote where the absentee ballot was counted 1st such as florida immediately the in person voting was counted that began to change so a very complicated situation to follow and certainly its a result that very clearly now may take days certainly until friday before we get a clear indication of what is happening.
