H. O. Warned of an alarming rise in cases across europe and israel has now entered a nationwide lockdown for a 2nd time as infections rise there has also come at the height of the jewish Holiday Season and a blow to already struggling Business Owners but we will speak to her a force at about the situation in israel in just a moment but 1st lets go to nadine baba whos in london for us it does seem like u. K. Leaders and now saying they are going to have to make some tough decisions. They certainly are this comes amidst a backdrop of worrying figures for the whole of the u. K. The are rate the reproduction number is now between 1. 01 meaning for every 10 people infected between 11. 40 more people get the coronavirus cases and now doubling roughly every week and now the government has confirmed that its considering advice from its Advisory Group known as say each that if it doesnt bring in tough new measures by next month and there will be a significant rise in covered 19 deaths now the government is under pressure for problems in the testing cape capacity particularly here in england in london the message he can has said the city is about 2 weeks behind other areas of england which have already got localized lockdowns affecting around 10000000 people more regions are being brought under those next week city khan is talking about government incompetence being behind those testing problems the 1st minister of wales has talked about a vacancy at the heart of the u. K. Saying that Boris Johnson the Prime Minister needs to be reaching out to the devolved nations much more and nicholas sturgeon the 1st minister of scotland has backed him up saying that there needs to be the next few days a meeting chaired by Boris Johnson of the socalled Cobra Emergency Committee involving her involving all the developed nations and top officials. Seeds met yesterday and i have cheered the meeting of senior Scottish Government officials and advisors the smalling to assess the Current Situation and discussions across the 4 nations of the u. K. Will i hope take place in the coming days i have this morning asked the Prime Minister to convene a corporate meeting over this weekend so today i want to give the nation advance notice that the coming days are likely to see some hard but necessary decisions. Its not just in the u. K. Where numbers a spiraling now europes also seeing some some huge new records. Absolutely france saw its largest one day rais since the pandemic started on thursday the new cases numbered over 11000 weve seen in the Czech Republic a rise of over 3000 new cases in one day per population thats actually the highest as a record apart from france and spain and in the Czech Republic theyre bringing in new measures such as making people who attend the Outdoor Events of more than 100 wear face masks and theyre reducing Opening Hours for bars in places like similar things to whats happening actually in england particularly on reducing Opening Hours for Entertainment Venues all in the hope that they wont have to bring back the really restrictive measures the total lockdowns that many countries brought in in march and april after deaths really did start to spike there is talk from the World Health Organization of a very worrying situation that could actually see a 2nd wave theyre saying that governments must act more quickly and get on top of localized outbreaks if they want to protect their Health Systems and also their care homes here in britain the government certain looking about a new program to protect care homes but many in the industry is saying that theyre now being pressured to take in people from the hospitals who might be positive socalled big 19 a very worrying situation for a lot of people indeed with us now with all the latest for us from london thanks so much sending her lets now move to israel and speak to her aforesaid who is in west jerusalem harry theres been lots of discussion lots of the base about what knockdowns renewed lockdowns might not like in the u. K. But israel is that really the fast of that nation to go into a 2nd down what does it look like that. Indeed its. Across the country no coincidence that it is coming at the same time as the start of the jewish new year holiday and the start of the 3 week holiday period here in israel of religious holidays and it will extend throughout those 3 weeks designed to do 2 things really one to stop households mixing stop the traditional traveling across the country to see relatives and friends and also to address the very severe rise in numbers weve seen new cases above 5000 for several days this week the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last night talked about the red flag that the Health System had raised worried about the increasing stress on hospitals and so weve seen these measures which include not being allowed to go more than a kilometer from your front door unless for certain particular exempted reasons that was only changed very late last night it was going to be 500 meters from the front door all sort of businesses that deal with the public being closed down restaurants having only to deliver not allow anyone to come in and dine and as far as the way that this is being forcing 7000 soldiers and police on the streets trying to make sure that people do follow the rules because there are real concerns that people wont because of the very mixed contradictory messages theyve been getting throughout this and democrats been a lot of criticism of the governments handling of it there is an expectation that people would take this is seriously as they did the 1st time around back in march and april and there are also concerns about some of the hot spots on infection that weve seen in recent months areas and in palestinian israeli towns and particularly in ultraorthodox jewish neighborhoods there was an attempt some weeks ago to try to lock such areas down more specifically but the very powerfully powerful Political Parties representing the ultraorthodox communities essentially nixed that netanyahu really allowing for that not to happen and that has really necessitated this much more general National Measure have for our health than it has for us from rest areas thanks so much terry. Paula there is plenty more healthy on this news hour including find out why taiwan had to scramble some of its fighter planes and we look at how the u. S. Has stepped up its tech war with china. And then in sport the usa can help you know when to be winning any more major titles the c. F. R. Is here that story. Taiwans air force has repeatedly scrambled intercepted jets to track approaching chinese warplanes theyre taking part in military exercises during the latest visit to taiwan by a high ranking u. S. Envoy chinas government accuses the u. S. And taiwan of what it calls collusion to stir up trouble rather pride reports. Taiwan scrambling gets jets after 18 Chinese Military aircraft entered its Defense Identification Zone before turning back. As its done previously in the Taiwan Strait this military exercise by china was its way of showing displeasure at increased diplomatic exchanges between the u. S. And taiwan it comes as u. S. Undersecretary keith crock the most Senior State Department official in decades continues his visit to the island that follows another visit last month by u. S. Health secretary alex asia as part of what beijing has condemned as a dangerous trend. Whether it is to control china using taiwan as leverage or solicit foreign support its all Wishful Thinking and destined to be a dead end those who play with fire will burn themselves. Once again taiwan is caught in the middle of worsening china u. S. Relations increasingly the u. S. Is stepping up to back taiwan for a whole range of reasons but to Counter China regionally mainly. Want democracy as well as its critical job graphic location has assumed an increasingly more Important Role in u. S. Strategy in the pacific so were likely to see an increasing retching up of tension in the tarrasch rates diplomacy with taiwan seems to be part of a wider wreford by the us to rally an International Coalition against what it sees as increasing chinese belligerence with mounting criticism of beijings actions in shin jang and hong kong and its response to covert 19 as well as territorial disputes with its neighbors theres a growing list of countries sharing an anti china grievance china has shown its ready to push back and with growing military power that it can call upon macbride aljazeera. Now a number of us states have opened their ballot boxes in person and embers president ial election President Donald Trump and his democratic rival joe biden will campaign in minnesota on that states fast saying the u. S. Postal service has also warned that millions of mail in ballots may not arrive in time to be counted on election day well thats. A huge joins me now from arlington in virginia she have the democrats really have made it their mission to get out the early voters are using the numbers that they might have wanted today. Its difficult to judge really this is just the 1st of 45 days here in virginia for early voting up to 31st people go to the polling stations like the one behind me weve seen. What youd expect basically when polling opened there was a queue as people wanted to get there about some before they went to work and since then theres just been the dribs and drabs are really to judge how this compares to other years we do know that virginia has a Record Number of absentee ballot requests 790000 of them have so many obviously because of the pandemic people dont want to go to a polling station during during a pandemic but whats very interesting is when were speaking to people its clear that even though people initially may have intended to vote by mail because of the warnings but the one that you just mentioned from the Postal Service and virginia was one of the states the was was the ballots may not arrive in time to be counted alone with the operational changes that happen to the Postal Service this is what theyre warning about that the trouble postmaster general has and changes which are. Essentially slow down the mail that Court Challenges but the mail has been slowed down because we have all tried to myself saying quite openly he doesnt even believe in mail about ing were finding the people who might have intended to vote by mail coming in person but heres a selection of what we heard from voters this morning. Powers warrant that the. Mail in ballots might not get there to make him a delegate count. There and im concerned that there might be prouder than election day. But i think that theres efforts to undermine it i think theres a lot of. Division from be certain sides and so. I think voting early will just help us feel more secure about that i just read it just make sure its in there. And its interesting there was a recent poll which said hall. So it is intended to vote by mail just one tons of truck voters intended to vote by mail in part because they just tend to take the pandemic more seriously so you can see why donald trump may have been going off to the integrity of mail and balancing and thats what were increasingly hearing from Democratic Party activists that if you want your vote to count and you dont want a long drawn out process there may be no alternative but to just put on a mask come down to vote early here on the day because that way at least well have more of a result well have a better understanding of the result on Election Night even though no matter what were expecting a very long drawn out process perhaps an election week until we actually get a final president ial vote counted she had on the ground for us in Arlington Virginia thanks very much she have well lets dig into this now with associate professor of media and Public Affairs at George Washington university who joins us now from washington d. C. He said do you think we should be expecting some very launch an early voting numbers in the coming days. I would think so i think and you know as you as your correspondent just noted democrats are very eager to vote by mail they want to get the vote and maybe its because they take the depend demick more seriously than many on the republican side you know for whatever reason but recent polling this actually being released this morning from a group called rust belt rising finds it for cheap midwestern states democrats are overwhelmingly planning to vote by mail all republicans are overwhelmingly planning to vote a person pay to the have been some concerns about the capacity and results as an organization for this level of scale of early voting do you think those concerns unwarranted especially that this is happening during a pandemic. I think so i think so i think all the votes everybody whos eligible to vote should vote i think all the votes of eligible voters should be counted no matter how long it takes but this is a big operation these are millions and millions of people trying to do roughly the same thing and in a pretty short window you know this is a lot of stuff to process through a mail system through postal system as you noted which is undergoing some changes there are you know in person voting is the voting stations are manned by by local citizens right this this is a machine that gears up every couple years and it can be pretty easily i think feel some strength. Well right now by my count were still 46 days out from the election i know a lot can happen in that time but also these latest polls are showing a fairly wide margin for biden in some pretty key battleground states what do you make of those. Thats a really good point i think that if you look at the polling over time sort of the polls over serve a stretch of time President Trump is hanging out in the low to mid fortys Vice President biden is in sort of the low fiftys around 50 percent but more importantly if you look at key states as you noted Vice President biden has some pretty strong and consistent leads again this new polling from rustbelt rising which is a Democratic Group has biden pretty strongly in michigan wisconsin pennsylvania its much tighter in ohio where its within the margin of error and most polling i think sees a high it was really. Maybe more for trump that that for by if this point well we also have 3 debates between trump and biden between now and the election given the numbers that we are seeing now how much of an impact do you think those could have could they change everything. Debates i think report for a couple of reasons one is its just important for democracy we get to look at our leaders and would be leaders in the eye even if its only virtually its a its a way to get all of us to get involved in a political process to participate in politics before voting historically most research on debates finds it makes a bit of a difference around the margins and it is a good educational tool we dont know about the candidates we learn about them during the debates i think in this case people know where they stand most polling key states and nationally has the undecided voters around 1234 percent you know people know how they feel about President Trump i think with these debates might you if i were a republican is look at the debate so you know a President Trump yeah you know maybe he should tweet less but hes right on the issues hes appointing the choices i like like the tax cuts and i think some potential biden voters will look at the debates and say ok he really this call is he really together from a liberal is he speaking to me enough and if im a moderate is he not listening to the liberals too much appears i want to ask you very briefly about the result that south president tom has been working very hard to cost 1000 any outcome especially with his comments about the postal ballots as she had to say how much trust do you think there is in this election and its results i think both sides of polling ive seen indicates that both sides are skeptical of the result if their if their side loses which is not surprising right you never really like the rest i think its unfortunate that some elected officials and some candidates are writing a process be still asleep President Trump voted by mail you know a lot of people vote by mail if there are real problems that called out and provide evidence so that so that voters know whats going on but i think sowing seeds of doubt in the key to our democratic process baselessly is is kind of folks should be doing that very dangerous. From George Washington University Great to your thoughts here on out there thanks for being with us youre welcome thank you. And meeting on and 2 of the most popular chinese owned apps in the wild to be built from download in the United States President Trump has awarded that to talk and we chat be removed from google and apple stores will come into force on sunday video sharing optic talk has 18000000 active users in the u. S. Alone and we chat is a popular messaging service and is also used from about payments all transactions through the apps will also be blocked well for more lets speak to our White House Correspondent can be healthy in washington d. C. Can be there was several attempts to stop this from happening with American Companies potentially stepping in to buy these apps but that failed. What was it really that they were attempting to stop this from happening they were carrying out the process of the president s executive order in other words back in august and this is been a long running concern of democrats and republicans the president took action and what he said was is that look at the these apps are really just backdoor espionage theyre using and taking private data for americans and its putting it into the hands of china in order to protect National Security were going to need an American Company to run it at least on the u. S. Side and thats what put in place a bidding war so that bidding war has been underway it looks like oracle is the one that sort of settled finally in putting together a proposal to take this project on for the u. S. But Neither China nor the United States of approve this now in the midst of that the u. S. President is kind of up the ante is ongoing dispute with china hes now put in place the banning of the downloads of this for american users as of sunday can be given the huge implications for the chinese diaspora particularly to use we chat for so many connections to home is this also being viewed as another blow in in the cold war with beijing that you are effective. Its not just the chinese di asked it is this is a platform that is used by 1200000000 active users in the case of we chat and the market value of 645000000000 to put this into context this is far more than just a social application to apple in the case of tik tok well its a very lovely app that a lot of kids enjoy using we chat is really kind of the digital key to doing business in china particularly for americans more specifically for major American Companies were talking. Nike starbucks walmart so this is where people start to get concerned is that what is this going to do in terms of the ecommerce side and when you try to chase those numbers its really unclear but that is where things are most concerning now at the same time look at this is an election time she have has been talking about it your guest has been talking about it the u. S. President is taking a gamble here because hes trying to look tough on china yet again but it could have a blowback not just with the Younger Voters 20 percent of tick tock users will be voting in the United States for the 1st time but also when it comes to the business side particularly given the fact of the Business Community has been very supportive of donald trump very interesting they can be how could force in washington d. C. Thank you very much company. Sanitation facilities at a new refugee camp in greece have already started to break down thousands have begun to settle into the camp on the greek island of less boss but they fear the conditions will be as poor as they were in their old camp which burned down last week 12000 people have been living there but it was only designed to hold a quarter of that correspondent Stephanie Deca has all the latest from this balls. Its safe to say that most of the people have now moved off the street. Theyre now you know the last of the day really making their way registering having to be tested for the growth we managed to get to the area where they had been living on the streets for the past 10 days or so you did still have police and people in sort of hazmat suits telling the last people to go over so people trying to argue with telling them they didnt want to come here but really the people have been left with no choice and thats the big question now whether these people are going to be viewed while not whether they are going to be here but for how long theyre going to be here for the paperwork needs to be expedited and the greek authorities have made it clear that unless youre in this town your paperwork will be resumed but its the conditions that people are concerned about and i think the next 2 days going to be crucial can it comes to how this camp is going to cope with this amount of people were already hearing that there would that theres no Running Water really theyre still setting that up that the toilets are already dirty were trying to communicate to the refugees weve been in touch with already inside to see how the next 3 days are going to pan out with so many people around 7000 people are in that cap now there are still some coming in but certainly i think by the end of the day the majority of those who had been sleeping on the streets will be in the. Well stuffing the hole so spoke to the head of mission for Doctors Without Borders there and he told her that this new camp is the continuation of lax action by the e. U. And will not solve the refugee crisis. The only thing that the government did is to start a new camp by to see it in the form of a military target range now why a target would be used is because again this is a not a good place for setting up a camp in the winter its very cold completely open to the wind and we very much fear that this temporary camp could start last thing very long so again what is the purpose of this camp are we talking about a 2nd morea what people are going piled up for months and then or even years is this part of a continuous containment policy policy of collective punishment for making you know some form of pushback of. Asylum seekers yet this is extremely worrying and as such and we want to know now what is your plan do they want to continue having the shame of more and other more has continuing or are they in ready to change a policy accept that Asylum Seekers a human beings condition be treated like animals and have indeed own designs the needed reception for a few days maximum a few weeks its a transit and then the taken to proper places but the more years have to stop. Well still ahead here here on out there fears of a possible political crisis in peru the president s job is on the line well explain why. Pieces of history and we look at all that remains and fast miners braved ship to ever be identified. And then support the miami heat once again for years they are the comeback change action from the n. B. A. Playoffs coming up later in the post. Had a fairly quiet picture across much of the middle east the way things have been lies and they will stabilize again over the next few days not really even much in the way of clouds in the area well see some activities across into turkey through south of the some showers across Northern Areas they could be quite heavy at times but this itll system here this is known as a medication this is a hearken that is full in the mediterranean some very strong Hurricane Force winds on the right tends to really sit and Impact Greece for the next couple of days eventually through sunday drops for the south was but those winds could find their way through the eastern end of the mad and theres quite a bit more strict rules in his that we could see want to shout into central and Western Areas of turkey but. Maybe just one or 2 later the day into the fall south and west of yemen. Central africa and lots of cloud as well weve seen a quite a few showers the last few days into areas of develop again as we go through saturday Northern Areas but then to the south of there its actually very warm temperatures well above the average particularly for this time of year but it does stay dry but this is what i mean touches the averaging 30 celsius it really does begin to come down but even so a few days ahead of that cool off a similar scenario in johannesburg for the next couple of days temperatures in the twentys but certainly cooler in cape town was showers on sunday. This lums of manila home to extraordinary talent move more narrow dedication and hard work transform child scavenger jessup into professional connery now she has the strains technical means shes very strong on a mixed martial arts fighter just battles his way from the streets to success in the ring for i could tell you this is your stepping stone. Just now on aljazeera. The. The. I dont understand your take and lets remind you of our top stories here this hour a surge in coronavirus cases across the u. K. Has forced the government announce more restrictions as infections worldwide now top that 100000000 the number of people being admitted to british hospitals with the corona virus is doubling every 8 days. A number of u. S. States have opened their ballot boxes early for in person voting for the november 3rd president ial election president all trump and his democratic rival joe biden will campaign in minnesota on that states 1st day of any verse. On the trumpet ministration will band downloads of chinese owned apps to talk and we challenge the president is ordering that they be removed from google and apple stores not banned will come into force on sunday trump says they pose a threat to National Security. Well perus president has just arrived in congress to face his impeachment hearing its going to head off to the Constitutional Court rejected Martin Vickery request to suspend proceedings he denies interfering in a corruption investigation into 50000 dollars worth of government contracts awarded to a singer well our correspondent Marianna Sanchez is in lima for us marianna the president is speaking in congress whats he saying. Well no this has been really a surprise because president martin discover has said all along that he would not go to congress that he would send his lawyer. For his Legal Defense in this impeachment proceedings however this morning. After it was reported that he was going to continue doing his activities he walked out of the president ial palace just about a half an hour ago and left for congress and now he is speaking and defending himself at least the 1st part of the hour that he has to defend himself in front of congress and he has said that he thought it was important to talk to all peruvians peruvians are the president s base he doesnt have a party he doesnt have a repression representation in congress but he has nearly 80 percent of the people of proof saying that he should stay and he should not be ousted he has said that he has a clean conscience and that the reaffirms that there has to be transparency that he if they want to investigate him they can investigate him now not when his term in office be finishes in july so he is speaking to lawmakers at this moment and he has again said that he is any wrongdoings. Also trying to grapple with the coronavirus pandemic which is a complicated time to potentially remove any to and as you say hes still quite popular with the public. Thats right this is the worst time if one can think of a time to do an impeachment of a precedent because there are more than 30000 peruvians or fish really dead nearly 70000 and officially dead in this pandemic became one of the countries with more. Deaths per 1000000 in the world because of the pandemic and the economy is in shambles. More than 4000000. 00 peruvians only in the capital have lost their jobs so its the worst time to impeach a president and thats why he has the support of nearly 80 percent of the people but what is the hind this there are lawmakers who are enemies of the president because the president has doesnt have anyone in congress or hardly any parliamentary who are behind him and so these groups of congress men are is against many of the reforms that the scar is doing so this is a Good Opportunity to change him and stay in power too for those reforms to dont go forward. And watching all of that for us thanks so much. Of the current virus crisis has also causing a rethink about working in offices the shift to being based at home has benefits such as reducing traffic pollution and creates Mental Health because of less of a stress that some governments such as in wales are proposing radical ideas to make the switch permanent and i dont see reports from cutting. What to do with all this offices all over the world when mostly deserted for months and cardiff is no exception yet as elsewhere people have been prepared to work just as hard from the comfort of their own homes fill john dean is a partner in a law firm which put most of his 150 staff on a home working in march has been a revelation to him and has altered the way he sees his business in the future everyone in who occupies an office is looking right now. Not not at their Office Requirements and how much space do we need and more importantly what quality of space to be need so i think a lot of us believe theres going to be a flight to quality where people are maybe taking less space but better space all sorts of Business Leaders have been saying theyre now thinking about spending less on office rents and more on their employees but as more profound thinking going on as well making a virtue out of the crisis is clearly the best thing that could happen after coronavirus clearly working from home all the time is fantastic news for people who have a lot of lands and terrible news if youre in a tiny apartments but certainly reorganizing the way that people use city senses is suddenly being seen as a massive opportunity. Just around the corner from the empty offices are all the signs of whats happened to high streets across the u. K. In recent years something needs to happen urgently to rescue small independent businesses wells his 1st minister had the idea to keep a full 3rd of the workforce on retainer at home permanently part on the grounds that it spreads the money around cities far more successfully than making most people come into the center every single day even in wales we have people spending up to a whole working day you can write it up over the whole week just in the car going to and from where they live and where they work and if we can make some inroads into that their needs much more than economics it is about the environment it is about quality of life it is about making places where people live more important to them. Economically socially and environmentally this argument also suggests that big Infrastructure Projects so beloved of the government in london like this new rail line into cardiff may become a bit redundant see full they do is move more and more people into city senses when they might be better off staying working and spending money in the area they live in you know what you really want the different sorts of people coming in together move on the eve both cities in the u. K. Havent as not allowed that to happen so now yes what were seeing is really called into question with that model of a agglomeration of of crowding together people in logic quite boring service jobs is actually giving us the benefits we need if its not getting the benefits we need while we stand all the costs no doubt temples to Corporate Culture like london will resist this sources thinking and in cardiff to the offices a still going up what is unclear is if anyone is going to want to move into them Lawrence Leigh aljazeera in cardiff while economist james midway joins us now from london james obviously plenty of talk about the benefits of working from home but as lawrence was alluding to there in his report there are potential economic losses especially in metro and aben areas now given the fallout the economic fallout that weve already seen from this pandemic do you think this could actually make recovery harder. Well its too early to say as yet where how much working from home is going to impact looking ahead overall youd expect the long term impact to covert 19 which is going to be with us for a long time yet whether we get a vaccine anytime soon or not youd expect the impact be basically negative for Economic Growth its lots and lots of new costs all over the place and working from home potentially is one of those but whether the impact overall d is good or bad does is a bit hard to say we know that some sectors are going to be affected if theres a big switch to working from home we know that commercial property is damaged we know that all the shops you know selling sandwiches to Office Workers in city sentences are going to be hit by it but overall some of the evidence suggests that working from home can be more productive depending on the kinds of jobs people do the touch they have to do not least because they spend less time commuting and therefore a bit more time working well james is this then an argument for changing the way that we plan and lay out how 30 is going for. Gold for sure and you can see that so already youve highlighted wales there will be other there are other certainly in britain City Councils and it will be across the road people plan world people planning on how they might reorganize that city center because if there is a big shift to the working from home a lot of the infrastructure we put in place whether its Railway Lines running into city centers winding roads so that more people commute or all of that starts to look a little bit redundant to maybe some of the stuff that we havent invested so much going very fast broadband connections to rural areas for example suddenly starts to look like much more projects its a big switch in how we organize organize our economies i wanted to ask you exactly about that because so much of this depends on infrastructure and the availability of good internet really crucial for example do you think that increasingly working from home could also exacerbate existing inequality. Well that is part of the problem here one bit is access to internet in particular to fast reliable broadband which is surprisingly variable you know its quite a lot of otherwise quite developed countries and sitting here in britain say the same thing about us dont necessarily have very good reliable Broadband Access absolutely everywhere thats one inequality the other one of course is is the difference in the experience of working from home and who has access to it whilst lots of people report they quite like it its quite pleasant to not have to commute to not have to go into the office to be able to do what might be quite an enjoyable interesting job sitting from your desk or your table at home for lots of people doing routine work it because its horrible short have to sit home and do that and of course if you work in manufacturing for an enormous number of jobs it is simply not an option as things stand so so there is an inequality it can introduce there in the kind of experience people have from whether they can work at home the expense they get when theyre working from home and coping with that i think is going to become the political issue in the next few months and years while working from home could also potentially well not potentially but will impact aviation which has already taken such a hit during this pandemic Business Travel such a huge proportion of that but now companies are realizing they dont need to spend it how much of an impact could that have. It looks like its going to be very significant for aviation and the Aviation Industry is not going to be the same. As its fairly obvious by now coming coming out of this crisis as it was going in and theres any number of companies here if you think ticket to sort of finance that they dont really at least in finance and Business Services theres a Larger Companies realizing they dont have to fly people all over the world to meetings they can do it reasonably well just as well using one of the various teleconferencing applications that so thats a huge shift potentially in how business is conducted and how its the economy and some of the there is in britain and other parts of the world some of the more productive in the war value producing parts of the economy start to work so its a big old shift but it means a knock for aviation and potentially requirement for subsidies and Government Support for a long time to come up james made wade an economist speaking to us from london great to get your thoughts here on out there thanks for being with us today. On the pandemic has also disrupted the education of millions of children in indonesia people in remote communities dont have Internet Access as james was just saying so teachers are now going the extra mile to support students but as just a washington reports from tangere and even those close to the capital are struggling. Indonesians with it seems nothing can get between these teachers and their students from monday to friday they travel through. And although this school is closed because of covert 19 precautions class is still in session youre going to be served a lot of the lives we cannot do Online Learning because theres no Internet Access and people dont have Computers Laptops or mobile devices the teachers go from village to village using makeshift outdoor classrooms with covert 900 Safety Measures in mind. They say they are trying their best and limited resources ghalib are 30 like us we are thankful that even though the road to a village is bad and its very far away the teaches still willing to come and teach us schools in this Community Like many across indonesia have been shot since march the teachers took it upon themselves to stop visiting the villages of the students knowing that without Internet Access and often no electricity Online Learning was never a viable option for most children here. The pandemic has disrupted the education of millions of indonesian children and its not just remote provinces experiencing difficulties with Distance Learning but cities close to the capital as well. In mexico has made an unprecedented discovery the wreck of a mayan slave ship from the 850 s. Thats when slave traders were capturing Indigenous People and selling them in caribbean countries i know of how the reports are from mexico city. This debris on the sea floor is all that remains of a 160 year old slave ship mexican scientists recently identified the vessel is latonya and believed to gone down in september of 1961 well i guess. The big takeaway after uniting this multidiscipline investigation is that we know for a fact this is the steam boat. Which sank on september 19th 861. 00 we also know that apart from the cargo that was being hauled to cuba there were mayans illegally held captive aboard. Though the wreckage of the ship was 1st located in 2017 researchers are still shining a light into its history the wreck of lower new and off the coast of the yucatan peninsula is the 1st ever mayan slave ship ever to be identified researchers say it provides evidence of the enslavement of Indigenous People long after the abolishment of slavery in mexico. The time period also coincides with the war of the castes a revolt led by Indigenous People of the yucatan peninsula against the population of european descent its a conflict that lasted through the end of the 19th century. Scientists say the discovery helps to establish a historical record for the descendants of indigenous mayans whose ancestors had been brutalized and exploited since the days of the american conquest is get beyond elements of justice it would be worth finding the descendants of those who stayed behind on the yucatan peninsula and those who were taken to cuba and find out their story i think thats the most important part the human element.
