Theres everybody over it up i will i will. This is what its about. Right is it. Does it remind you of stuff that reminds you of this. Once a swab once a qtip its actually different. Its very sophisticated actually but its a little bit like so this is the strong. And. What are a lot of them they have a lot of them some of them some of the states are they were shipped to states and the states dont know where they are. And but thats thats it. What do we give this to karen for have to take an extra step. I think but this is a big deal. And were working on it and were working with the companies and i think in the end were going to have were going to have a drug were going to have a tremendous. A tremendous success no nobody is close to us no country is closest in fact and i appreciate it very much the wall street journal wrote a fantastic piece a highly respected gentleman christopher de muth. And this piece was just in the wall street journal. Weekend edition and trumpery writes the book on emergencies thats whats happened to. Him we. Just read one paragraph. Hes given pride of place to federalism and private enterprise lauding the patriotism and proficiency of our fantastic governors and mayors meeting i do call them fantastic when its appropriate and our incredible Business Leaders ingenious companies i guess i probably use those terms to when theyre doing a good job when theyre not doing a good job i dont use those terms her doctors and nurses an orderly zone are tremendous truckers they have all done good jobs by shouting out many of them by name and documenting their deeds on a fully daily basis he has vivified the american way in action once it was reluctantly aroused it was hard to get around that it is hard to get around but we get it or. When asked why he has not issued orders for nationwide home and business lockdowns he has emphasized that the intensity of the epidemic varies widely and is best met by calibrated state and local judgments thats the judgments of governors of local people and it pointedly that such steps would conflict with the constitution but very important hes just a very respected gentleman to see this was a very nice feeling. Nuffin me necessarily but for all of the people that have worked with us i mean theyve. Theyve worked so hard and weve developed tests that is so fantastic weve weve come up with things that nobody had ever heard of and we did it during during this pandemic we did it under pressure to cool reaction under pressure its Pretty Amazing what our people have done and that includes all of our military people in our c. D. C. And just about everybody you can imagine including tony and deborah and they were long hours this nobody thats getting a lot of sleep. Were close to finalizing i want to thank the right of christopher this article and its a great article that was frankly the least of it what i read it was a great article we appreciate it. Were close to finalizing a 2nd partnership through which a u. S. Manufacturer would convert its existing plant to produce over 10000000. 00 additional swaps were a month and we should be ready to announce this in a very short period of time we also are going to be using and were preparing to use the defense production act to increase what production in one u. S. Facility by over 20000000. 00 additional swaps per month weve had a little difficulty with one so were going to call in as we have in the fast as you know were calling in the defense production act and well be getting swabs variously swabs are easy ventilators a heart ventilators are a big deal and we are now the king of ventilators we have so many ventilators you know i said nobody that needed a ventilator has been turned down its Pretty Amazing nobody. Were working with the World Class Team at Oak Ridge National laboratory to use its Injection Molding capacity to potentially produce over 10000000 collection tubes per week thats tremendous numbers in the meantime the supply chain and Logistics Task force continues to surge testing and need supplies all throughout america. Mikes team and the task force they just met theyve been meeting virtually every day and. Its a great team and its great theyve been doing a great job mike youve been doing a great. Many governors are doing this incredible work and theyre working with us very closely on testing and working in this states and again it should be a local thing because its point its all these points within a state. But were helping them a lot and we want to help them a lot we can help the more than a lot actually if you think about it with what weve done think of it weve done more than all those countries combined were encouraging them to share their successful strategies with other governors some of the governors are doing a better job than others the robust capacity that weve brought online will empower governors to deploy sophisticated strategies so they can safely reopen their states. Some people believe in testing very strongly and other people believe in it less strongly but still its a very good thing to have that we can say that some people believe in it like they cant exist without testing on other people dont believe in it nearly as much they can see how theyre doing and they feel how theyre doing and pretty been pretty vocal about that i think you know pretty much im talking about but i believe if they want it we should give it to him and get it get it for him and work with them. You must remember that the governors wanted to have total control over the opening of their states but now they want to have us the federal government do the testing and again testing as is local you cant have it both ways testing is a local thing and its very important its great but its a local thing and. Were going to get it were going to get it done to a level in a very short period of time because all of these all of the swabs a coming in all of the necessary materials a lot of as i said are already there but a lot of people dont know that yet. But well be doing testing at a level already were doing testing at a level nobodys ever done before but well be doing testing at a level that the biggest tester in the world will be very happy very soon and it is its very much like ventilators you dont hear the word mentioned and thats much tougher much tougher when you have to build these machines with the thousands of machines will more than help the governors and well make sure that everything goes well just like it did with ventilators just frankly like it did with face masks on a much easier subject as face masks again everythings easier than a ventilator ventilators a tough one now a spoke yesterday with the president of mexico and with various other countries were going to be helping them with ventilators we have tremendous numbers of ventilators the fact i think i hear i understand that Governor Cuomo is going to be setting up to massachusetts some of the excess ventilators that. We were able to get and thats great and its a great thing the number of new hospital admissions is also significantly down when you look at these numbers its so good thing to say other than the fact that we also know how people have been just ravaged by this by this cursed by this horrible scorch. Plague qualities come many different names in many of the hot spots including a 50 percent decline over a 9 day period in new york city thats a fantastic line its a beautiful thing to see have to going through the opposite we continue to see improvement with declining trajectory of cases in seattle detroit new orleans indianapolis and used in metro areas more evidence that our aggressive strategy is working and i thank the American People for their selfless devotion to American People have done a hell of a job. Were saving countless lives on again ill say it because i always wanted to say well can you leave it open nobody ever heard of anything like this not since 1917 more than 100 years ago has anything like this happened and in those days they had no real communication so you couldnt say go inside dont you know people just almost 100000000 people its reported its tough so you know the American People what theyve done has is incredible and theyve learned a lot you know and you see people. Picketing a little bit and they want to get out they want to get out and get back with their lives and thats good but they have learned a lot theyve learned about distancing even now at least until this thing totally goes away theyve learned about their washing their hands and all d of the Different Things that weve been talking about ad nauseum for so long and they get it they get it and some places the governors are ready to go in other places they cant go yet and they wont they want to they have to have it safe i wanted to be safe to test to be safe and again i have to say this i cant emphasize it strongly enough. Im probably going to show you charts of some of the countries that are really having trouble. And one in particular is having a massive problem where they said lets go were just going to keep going well there are the lines that youre famous for now some are flat some are up. This is like a rocket ship as country s. And they didnt they decided lets go and lets wing it thats where they thought d it was ok but its its its a problem its a big problem and theres another couple theres one in particular that everybody thinks did it but the people are staying in ok you know now i think at the head of a country doesnt have to say stay in these people are smart people they know whats going on they see whats going on so they dont have to say they can say theyre not doing that but the people are staying inside the not a lot of people outside sitting at cafes despite what the motive of country is but if you look at europe most countries have done this a couple tried not to italy tried not to in the held it and spain tried not to they went that way france tried not to i mean nobody wants to do this its a suburban step were going to close down your country who ever heard of a thing like this. But we would have had millions of people die if we didnt do this millions of people and i believe them i think you know in looking at the things that weve been looking at over the last couple of days i think and really over the last couple of weeks from the time we did it shortly thereafter i said we made the right decision in closing down made the right decision on borders. Banning people coming in from china banning all timidly people coming in from europe. But we would have millions of deaths and set of it looks like well be at about 860000 mark which is 40000. 00 less than the lowest number thought of. So this isnt a case where people would say oh we would have had that number if its similar to a flu its not the same thing as a flu at all because if we would have done anything you would have had so a flu would have 35. 00 and it goes from 272354050 sometimes its over a long period of time much different see even a much different death to be honest so much different death this is violent c. M. S. Is finalizing new guidelines for doctors and patients to resume elective surgeries its a big thing a lot of hospitals were closed they couldnt do any elective surgeries o. Be able to start doing the procedures and medical care that needs to be done in person as long as the rate of infections remains low in a community we want patients to be able to go to their doctors get clinically tested. And have work done surgeries receive treatment for chronic conditions and resume Preventative Care so well be allowing that to happen versus. We have no capacity in the hospitals with what happened with the. With the plague they have no capacity to do if your doctor believes you need a treatment in person you can get a treatment now you can and should get a trip and now we are asking that Health Care Facilities have plans in place to keep patients safe during their visit some places like new York New Jersey where they really got hit hard its going to be a little bit tougher theyve done a great job but they really were a center i mean they were sent i was watching that it was incredible but now theyre theyre leveling off and i think theyll be coming down 1st of. Administrative seem a very well well be telling you a little bit more about it mikes going to say if you are at sema will then speak tell you a little bit more about that. My administration continues to execute our massive military operation to supply our hospitals with equipment they need and beds if necessary but it looks like were totally covered on beds we have. Plenty of beds its highly unlikely that would be bad news if we needed more beds but i looks like its going just the opposite direction that i want to thank. Governor cuomo the relationship theyre doing for this whole thing were building hospitals was very good we built a little bit more than we needed and thats good as opposed to building a little bit less thats not good but hes worked very well with us the governor of louisiana has been great on the bed on that whole situation with the beds frankly. The governor of michigan was very good with us on on. Beds you know its a very complex subject you need buildings or you have to do tents or you have to do a lot of Different Things a lot of different ways but the army corps of engineers was fantastic they were fantastic florida likewise governor to santas. And i could name probably 6 other locations ill tell you one california was fantastic it was really good it was really good and i appreciate the fact that he he said what he wanted to say and he wasnt letting the the press force him into saying something that he didnt want to say so i appreciate it very much governor of california. He really worked very hard to Work Together to work very hard the federal government is currently procuring more than 100000 ventilators through new production or purchases with thousands already delivered weve delivered thousands of brand new ventilators all throughout. The country new york would be i guess the biggest user and they are now taking some of their excess ventilators which is great and theyre sending im up to messages its i think its 400. 00 and thats thats a great thing our total supply of ventilators continues to exceed by a lot of total expected demand. Governor cuomo said today that no one who needed a ventilator was denied a ventilator thats a beautiful statement i appreciate it and all governors are in that same position we do have a clip that i thought would be appropriate to put up today. It still take 2 minutes and i think youll find it interesting but we appreciate it and lets see if we can do that youll turn out the lights and well see if we can do that thank you. As. We bend the curve we thought of this of course but if you could look into that it people did it but the government facilitates peoples actions right. We had a double the rostral capacity in new york state. Thats what all the experts said. The president brought in the army corps of engineers they built 2500 beds it javits said Michael North well were operating with a phenomenal accomplishment. Close to a 1000 people have gone through javits luckily we didnt need to 2500 bent but all the projections that we did need more by the way. So if these were just extraordinary efforts and acts of mobilization. And the federal government stepped up and was a great partner and im the 1st one to say we needed help and they were their state. Theres a clip being shown in the new York Governor Andrew Cuomo by donald trump and his Daily Briefing at the white house donald trump saying that getting close to deal with democrats from the stimulus deal could have an answer on monday and said that his Vice President will lead a cool with governance to discuss what we need done to further the Coronavirus Response governance wanted total control he said now they want us to do the testing and trump also saying that parents use defense production not to increase medical swabs production among many other things he said lets bring in and youve got a guy whos standing by for us in miami in florida and has been listening in. To be fair and be hard to follow the thread quite a rambling briefing from the president. Yeah i mean it really was he was clearly reading from some statistics he had on a no part but in between there was a lot of kind of almost incoherent rambling at that point a lot of repetition also by this point you would think listening to these Daily Press Conferences from President Donald Trump that this was all over. And hes pointing out to other countries hes talking about how hes the king of ventilators in this country is carried out more testing than anyone else all of those facts need to be checked because we cannot trust what donald trump is saying at the moment in eve even got republican governors in this country saying look mr president we are not ready yet to reopen the economy some states like here in florida havent even peaked in the number of coronavirus cases yet yes we are seeing a slow decline in new york but its gone from 700 dying in one day to 500 those are still horrendous figures and theres also the issue of these cities in particular new york running out of money and you cuomo the governor of new york saying that the state is 15000000000. 00 in debt just a short while ago bill de blasio the mayor of new york is saying come on mr president you have an opinion about everything are you going to help us out or you just want us to drop dead thats just how political all this is getting at such a critical juncture in this countrys history for the lives of the people involved not only just getting the economy started but the the dangers this is a very very sensitive time for governors to make these very critical decisions and youve got the president on friday tweeting out to 3 states run by democratic governors saying liberate michigan liberate minnesota and liberate virginia thats a potentially dangerous move something that the governor of Washington State said could incite violence now these protests are growing theyre pretty small at the moment but they are growing because people want to get back to work so the entire country is treading this very delicate line now between rebooting the economy. And helping people preserve their health and safety and the president s briefings i think he enjoys them because there are no truck problems at the moment this is his forum he gets up he likes the viewing figures but at this point theres a lot of repetition theres a lot of promises that this is over and were going to see the light at the end of the tunnel but for some states that just simply is not the case and to put it into context the belated figures for the whole of the country are pretty staggering 40000 more than 40000 no. Here are some of the figures ive seen say 40100 some of them say 41000 but just think about how the authorities are behind in these statistics because it takes them a while to calculate who is succumb to covert 19 so those figures could be even higher new york state maybe dropping down slowly but you know andrew cuomo the governor there said look were not even at harvest time yet we are still facing a major crisis theres no signs of the economy reopening there and despite the fact we havent peaked here yet in florida the mayor of jacksonville rio the beaches yesterday hundreds of people flooded on to those beaches went swimming went sunbathing ignored social distancing guidelines all together but there is that that desire i think for many people here that the cure it may be worse than the disease itself so theres almost this attitude from conservatives here that look whatever happens whatever the cost we need to get back to getting this economy the worlds biggest economy going again but even the president said this has to be a science based approach they have to look at the data and remember these states have to see a 14 day decline before they can even move into these phases and while some states like wyoming or montana may be in a better position other states like here in florida and new york they certainly are not. And only that was appointed in his briefing where the president was holding swabs in his hands of demonstrating the process of testing in talking about how governors wanted total control and now they want us to do the testing without all about. Theres no real question here that testing has to be at least in part done by the federal government thats what the government is there for yes the states have some responsibility but hes standing there you know putting blame on other people basically saying look the governors all say they want more testing but its up to them well the whole mantra since the beginning of this thing happens is were all in it together that kind of sense of unity now seems to be falling apart under this presidency they start to shift the blame hes trying to talk about numbers of testing and by the way if you tested 4000000 people think about a country of 325000000 people as a tiny percentage even if those figures are accurate not seen other ones that say its perhaps a 1000000 less than that and you go republican governors this is highly unusual they rarely speak out against their own president say look were not ready we dont have what we need to still a shortage of protective equipment for Health Care Workers so you watch these press conferences and you believe from what the president is saying that this is potentially over on a downward spiral were not its definitely not over for many people but the decisions the governors now make a more crucial perhaps than ever. Thanks very much and david thats how we got to speaking from miami in florida monitoring that briefing from the u. S. President Donald Trump Holding his Daily Briefing we hear from him pretty much every day of the week getting closer to a deal with the democrats he said preparing to use the defense production act to increase medical swap production at one u. S. Facility said that the Vice President mike pence will lead a call with governors on monday to discuss what further can be done to tackle the coronavirus project and the response to it all right were going to take a short break for a couple minutes be back with another 4 half hour of news and further analysis of whats going on.
