Businesses is simply unprecedented in American History and there is no clear indication how the president can even begin carrying forth on this supposed order of his but what we do know is that indeed investors have been spooked as you mentioned the dow has had a dramatic decline and the fact that beijing timed the announcement of these retaliatory tariffs now is significant as well its a very sophisticated way of timing it at a time when it knows when beijing knows that the white house is hurting because over the last couple of weeks in the u. But there are growing fears of a global recession and this is really being driven by this deepening trade route and deteriorating relations between the United States and china what was the reaction in the markets today well investors are clearly worried and they have been all month frankly with concerns as you say about a slowing economy and a possible global rasha recession underlying what otherwise has been a Strong Performance by the u. Economy investors reacted very strongly to the tweets that the president put out earlier the market plunged more than 600 poets close at one point more than 700 points it closed down more than 600 points session lows. There and down more than 2 and a half percent. The escalation of the trade war with china has been underlying investor concerns for some time but the president tweeting today that companies would have to relocate their supply chains clearly had investors worried as so much of their. Growth in their profits come from that market place does the president have the authority to just up and move Companies Know he doesnt but just this kind of talk was enough to set an already edgy market plummeting and of course heidi was alluding to trumps blistering attack on the u. S. Federal reserve which is supposed to be outside of politics in the way they formulate their policies and make their decisions meant to be completely independent how might they handle this pressure from the white house.
