An Army Officer who serves with an Aldershot-based unit has been recognised for her contribution and ability to drive integration with UN Police and Civil Affairs components during her deployment to Cyprus on Operation TOSCA (Op TOSCA).
Army Officer Captain (Capt) Gemma Darrington, 33, who serves with unit 27 Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps (RLC), has been awarded the Joint Commander’s Certificate of Commendation.
The award was given in recognition of her efforts and hard work in Sector 2 United Nations Roulement Regiment as the operations officer during a six-month deployment in Cyprus from September 2019 to April 2020.
The Joint Commander’s Certificate of Commendation is awarded for personnel serving within strategic command. It may be given to both service and civilian personnel or units who have delivered meritorious service or who have shown true acts of courage whilst deployed on operations overseas but fall just short of a state award. Joint Commanders Commendations are aligned to the Operational Honours Lists.
