Alachua County public schools have reported 294 staff and 641 student cases since Aug. 17. There are 10 active cases, including seven students and three staff members. Another 140 students or staff were quarantined for possible virus exposure by the week's end.
The University of Florida's coronavirus testing and case dashboard includes positive case totals dating back to March 2020.
The total number of positives so far since March 2020 is just under 9,000 cases, including 1,415 for staff, 6,299 for students and 1,283 for employees of a UF-affiliated organization. Another 263 people affiliated with UF are in isolation or quarantine.
Within Alachua County’s borders, the cases break down this way: Gainesville, 17,742; Alachua, 1,241; Newberry, 1,117; High Springs, 740; Hawthorne, 488; Archer, 376; Micanopy, 184; University of Florida, 145; Waldo, 91; Earleton, 24; Santa Fe, 24; Tioga, 22; LaCrosse, 22; Cross Creek, eight; Evinston, eight; Island Grove, four; Jonesville, three; Melrose, one. Another five cases had no specific area tie.
