Adoption 'data breaches' revealed by Bolton Council

A NUMBER of ‘data breaches’ have occurred regarding adopted children in the care of Bolton Council and their birth parents, a report has revealed.
A report by Bolton’s director of children’s services has outlined changes to improve the way in which information is controlled and released as the council ensures links are established, if wanted, between adopted children and their birth family.
The report states that Bolton is one of three authorities within Greater Manchester where data breaches have happened regarding some children and contains plans to tighten the system.
It also says that Bolton Council ‘do not have any dedicated support associated with this important task’ and are not providing a timely service to the children and their families.
