LAKHIMPUR: The activists of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) rocked the environment of Lakhimpur town by resuming the stir against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019. The Lakhimpur district unit of the organization staged torchlight rally on Thursday evening in the town along with the other parts of the State reiterating the demand to repeal the contentious Act.
The AASU activists and anti-CAA activists, taking part in the agitation programme, led by Lakhimpur district unit president Pulok Borah and general secretary-in-chage Simanta Neog, shouted slogans in support of the demand and against the BJP-led State and Union governments regarding the issue. The dignitaries of the organization criticized the Union Government in strong terms for enforcing the Act, ignoring the massive protest programmes initiated by various organization and public against it.
