Galesburg Police on Sunday responded to OSF in Galesburg for a possible impaired driver who was in a single-vehicle accident on US Highway 34. First responders reported an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. Unopened wine coolers were also found inside the car's center console. Police arrived and made contact with the 75-year-old female driver. The Blandinsville woman told police she gets dehydrated a lot and passes out. She said it has happened before, and when she woke up, she had crashed. Officers then had the woman conduct a series of sobriety tests which indicated several signs of impairment. The woman then provided a breath sample with a BAC of .106. The woman was placed under arrest and processed at the Knox County Jail. She was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol A2, Expired Registration and Failure to Reduce Speed.
