Kia has taken the wraps off the U.S. version of the 2022 EV6, the brandâs first dedicated all-electric vehicle. The battery-powered crossover SUV is the first product under Kiaâs ambitious Plan S strategy to introduce 11 new electrified models worldwide by 2026. The Korean automaker joins brands ranging from Acura to Volvo as part of the industryâs overall shift toward e-mobility.
Before now, Kia has built electric variants of existing nameplates like the Soul and Niro, but the EV6 initiates a new range of electric vehicles with a unique naming convention that sets these offerings apart from the rest of the automakerâs product portfolio. Each new model will have the âEVâ moniker followed by a single digit to designate the vehicleâs position in the lineup.
