Hosts Egypt have qualified for the quarterfinals of the 2021 World Men’s Handball Championship. In their final fixture in Group IV. Egypt came from 8-12 behind at halftime and then 10-15 behind in the second half to draw 25-25 with Slovenia and this draw was enough for the Egyptians to be guaranteed a second place and book the slot in the quarterfinals. Mohammad Sanad was Egypt’s top scorer with 7 goals. Egypt will now play defending champions Denmark in the quarter-final.
Sweden finished top of Group II with a comfortable 34-20 win over the Russian Handball Federation after leading 17-8 at half-time. Lucas Pellas scored 8 goals while Hampus Wanne scored 6 for Sweden. The Swedes will now face one of Argentina, Qatar or Croatia in the last 8.
