After canceling last year because of the coronavirus pandemic, the University of Arkansas System Criminal Justice Institute hosted its 16th annual Arkansas Safe Schools Conference last week at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock.
Co-sponsored this year by Gov. Asa Hutchinson, the Arkansas Safe Schools Association, the state Department of Education, and state Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, the two-day conference drew more than 200 school resource officers, law enforcement officials, commissioned school security officers, educators, and counselors from around the state including officials from the White Hall and Pine Bluff police departments.
