BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The clearing of a homeless encampment at Bellingham’s Civic Athletic Complex went smoothly Tuesday but the problem remains for the community.
Many of the campers simply moved to Laurel Park near the Western Washington University campus, to the chagrin of local residents.
Public Works Director Eric Johnston says they’ve already taken steps to make sure this doesn’t turn into another long-term stand-off.
He says residents can report encampments or any other problems online.
The City has posted a notice at the Laurel Park site to vacate by 8am Friday.
